How much does a portrait cost?

The cost of a portrait depends on two parameters:

The size of the final portrait:

  - 58x83" for one portrait = 150 USD

  - 9x12 is ideal for any idea = 200 USD

  - 14x17 is good for a very detailed portrait, just as good for a full-length portrait, as well as for depicting 2-3 pets at once in one composition = 290 USD

- Delivery is not included in the portrait price.

The number of animals depicted in one portrait.

Each additional animal increases the portrait cost by 50%.

How long do the portraits take?

I have a waiting list for our portraits. If you would like the artwork for a specific date, please let us know when inquiring. The average time to create a portrait is:

- After receiving the payment and all the photos, I make the first search sketches within 5-7 days.

- After selecting the final sketch from the search sketches, the final work takes 7-10 days.

Do you send your portraits worldwide?

My portraits are in homes all over the world. I love speaking to clients and hearing about where they live. I can send the image to any point in the world.

Steps to create a portrait

1. Choosing the size of the final portrait

You can choose from three sizes to create your unique pet portrait:

- 58x83" for one portrait

- 9x12 is ideal for any idea

- 14x17 is good for a very detailed portrait, just as good for a full-length portrait, as well as for depicting 2-3 pets at once in one composition

You can discuss creating a portrait in other sizes upon request.

2. Providing photos

Good photos are the key to a successful portrait. It is important to provide clear and focused shots of your pet.

The better the quality of the photos, the better the portrait will be. If possible, photograph your pet outside in natural daylight. It is important for me to get as much information about your pet as possible to create the most realistic portrait.

I also ask that in addition to sending at least 5-7 photos, you provide a description of your pet: what they like, their habits, and their most distinctive features. This is very important for creating your pet's portrait.

If you want multiple pets in one portrait, it is not necessary to photograph them together. I can combine them in the portrait using separate photos.

3. Design and approval of the portrait

After receiving the photos and your wishes for the portrait, I create "search sketches" using your photos. This allows us to agree on the composition with the client until it becomes perfect. I send 3-5 different options for poses and styles of the future portrait. If desired, I can make another iteration on 2-3 search sketches.

After selecting the composition, I start working on the final portrait.

Do you work from photos?

Yes, I work using the photos of your pet that you send me.

Can I see what the portrait will look like before you start work?

Yes. For this, I create a series of sketches at the first stage so that you can choose the pose/style/presentation you like. The selected and approved sketch will be the basis of your future final portrait.

How do I make payment/deposit?

To book a place in my order list, a deposit of at least 50% prepayment is required. The remaining amount is paid before starting work on the portrait. We accept all major debit and credit cards, as well as bank transfers via Zelle and Paypal.

To order a portrait, you can write to me at vera.kuprikart@gmail.com or place an order online at the link - https://verakuprik.com/collections/pet-portraits-comision

Can I pay in installments?

Yes, please contact us to discuss your options.

What size photos should I email and how many should I send?

I like to see the image in the size it came from your digital camera or mobile device if possible. When photos are emailed, they can be resized, so please make sure they are in the original size. The more photographs you can send, the better. If you need help, just write to me.

Can you create a group portrait from separate photos?

I can create drawings of as many pets as you would like in one piece of artwork. It is always best to provide separate photos of each pet, and I can combine them in the drawing for you.

Read our pet portrait photography section to get an idea of how to take good, clear photos of your pet.

How many photos should I take/send?

If you are taking your own photos for your dog portrait, our advice is to take as many as possible. Try to use a good quality camera or phone if you have one. I recommend having a good long photo session of about 40 photos of each dog. It sounds like a lot, but I guarantee you will get the perfect photo.

Take your photos outside, getting down on the dog's level and keeping them fairly close in the frame. Try to walk towards your dog rather than zooming in when using a mobile, as this degrades the photo quality.

Check out our photography tips page, which will give you all the information you need.

Can you draw multiple dogs?

I can draw as many dogs/cats as you would like in your dog portrait. If you would like a bespoke quote, you are more than welcome to email me your photos along with your requirements. Don't forget, the more dogs you have in the portrait, the bigger your portrait will need to be.

I have three dogs but no photos of them together.

In fact, I much prefer to work from single photos of your dogs. Sending a group photo of the dogs can be helpful for us to see the size differences between them, but it is not imperative.

What do I get at the end of creating the portrait?

At the end of our journey in creating the portrait, I provide and send you the original completed work. Additionally, I make a scan of the original on a professional scanner in very high resolution. You can use this scan in the future at your discretion: print additional portraits on canvas in any size, print portraits on any other medium (t-shirt, mug, etc.).

How much is shipping, and how are the portraits sent?

This depends on the size and destination of your portrait. I flat pack very safely and securely, and our portraits are sent on a tracked service. I also try to use environmentally friendly products and packaging - everything we send our portraits in can be reused or recycled.

Do you offer prints of the portraits?

I unable to provide prints; however, I provide a high-resolution scan. This means clients can have their portrait printed with their local printers or alternatively with an online printer.

Do your portraits come framed?

I not currently offering framing at this time.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes, please write to me at vera.kuprikart@gmail.com, and I will prepare a beautifully designed gift voucher for you.

Can I use my painting or drawing commercially?

Clients hold the copyright on their photo that I work from; however, I hold the copyright on the artwork created from the client's photo. I will never reproduce or sell your portrait/painting or allow its usage on any other website apart from ours and our social media pages without written permission from the client.

Do you display the portrait on your website?

Once the artwork is complete and in the hands of the recipient, I reserve the right to display the artwork for our own promotion on my website and social media. If a client is unhappy about their painting or drawing being displayed, they must let me know upon ordering.
