How to Order a Pet Portrait: A Detailed Guide

Introduction

Ordering a pet (dog, cat, horse) portrait is a wonderful way to immortalize a beloved friend on paper. In this guide, we will explain what to pay attention to when ordering a portrait, the steps you will go through, and the available payment, packaging, and delivery options.

Steps to Order a Pet Portrait

1. Choosing the Final Portrait Size

You can choose from three sizes to create your unique pet portrait:

  • 5.8x8.3" for a single portrait
  • 9x12" is ideal for any idea
  • 14x17" is good for a very detailed portrait, as well as for depicting 2-3 pets at once in one composition

Other sizes can be discussed upon request.

2. Providing Photographs

Good photographs are key to a successful portrait.

It is important to provide clear and focused images of your pet. The better the quality of the photos, the better the portrait will be. If possible, photograph your pet outdoors in natural daylight.

It is crucial for me to get as much information about your pet as possible to create a realistic portrait. I also ask that you send at least 5-7 photos and a description of your pet, including what they like/d, their habits, and their most distinctive features. This is very important for creating an accurate portrait of your pet.

If you want multiple pets in one portrait, it is not necessary to photograph them together. I can combine them in the portrait using separate photographs.

3. Design and Approval of the Portrait

After receiving the photographs and your wishes for the portrait, I create "search sketches" using your photos. This allows us to agree on the composition with the client until it becomes perfect. I send 3-5 different options of poses and styles for the future portrait. If desired, I can make another iteration with 2-3 more search sketches. After choosing the composition, I start working on the final portrait.

4. Payment

To reserve a place in my order list, a deposit of at least 50% is required. The remaining amount is paid before starting the portrait. We accept all major debit and credit cards, as well as Zelle and PayPal bank transfers.

5. Completion and Packaging

When the portrait is ready, I take several photos and send them to the client for final approval. I carefully pack the portraits to ensure they arrive in perfect condition. The portraits are wrapped in cellophane for dust protection and then placed in double-walled cardboard for safe transportation.
